Q. How much does an assessment cost? A. Our fees vary considerably depending on the type of assessment or service required and the number of tests needed. Please email or call us to discuss your individual needs and you will receive a detailed response with costings appropriate to your needs. Individual or one off consultations cost €120.
Q. Are your assessments recognised by the Department of Education & Skills, HSE, CAMHS etc? A. Yes! Sometimes the HSE or NEPS may want other information and may ask to see your child.
Q. If my child is assessed privately, will we still be able to access public services? A. Yes! Seeing a private practitioner does not preclude you from accessing public services such as the HSE, CAMHS or NEPS.
Q. Can you recommend resource hours, a Special Needs Assistant, an exemption from Irish, Assistive Technology etc. for my child? A. Yes, these can be recommended as long as the child or young person meets the criteria as set out by the Department of Education & Skills.
Q. Do you work with children over long periods of time? A. At present we tend to provide one off assessments which will mean that a psychologist will see the child or young person once or twice and provide an in-depth report and recommendations. We also engage with children who require bespoke interventions which generally last 6-8 sessions. Recent examples of interventions include working with a young person with an anxiety disorder, working with a young person who already has a diagnosis of Autism on understanding emotions and behaviour as well as working with two siblings who needed support throughout the separation of their parents. Q. Does my child need a referral letter to see you? A. No referral letter is required to access these services. However, it is often the case that I will ask you to complete a parent information form before we meet. There is also no obligation to tell your child’s school that you are accessing these services, although the information a school provides is often insightful and helpful. Reports and findings are only shared if this is the wish of the parents / carers.
